One such interesting institution is the Ctaste restaurant (Amsteldijk 55, 1074 HX), where visitors eat in complete darkness.

Imagine, you can see neither the cutlery, nor the waiters, nor your food. Restaurant staff offer their guests to forget about the bustle of the city and all extraneous emotions and trust their feelings, sounds and touches only. In this way you can evaluate the taste of the dish as objectively as possible and your impression won’t be influenced by its appearance. Before entering the restaurant you will even have to deposit items that can glow in the dark into a special locker – as you understand they really do everything to make sure that nothing can distract the guest’s attention from the dish. A friendly waiter will surely escort you to the table and he will be responsible for your mood and safety during the whole evening.

It should be noted that this restaurant employs true professionals – specially trained waiters to serve orders in the dark. As for the food itself, visitors are in for a surprise – when ordering you can specify just the type of dish you want: it can be meat, chicken, fish, dessert, vegetarian food, but how and with what will be served your order is a mystery. Those who like spicy food can fully trust in the choice of dishes suggested by the chef. Keep in mind, however, that in an unusual restaurant the dishes are offered accordingly.

The price for a set of appetizer, main course and dessert at Ctaste is 39,50 euros. The restaurant is open Wednesday through Saturday from 4:30 to 11:30 p.m. and from 11 to 11:30 p.m. on Sundays.

Another unique place is the Xtracold Icebar Amsterdam (Amstel 194-196, 1017 AG). Most of the institution’s structures are made of ice: the bar, furniture, walls and even glasses.

Usual temperature of “Ice hall” is minus 10 degrees, that’s why before the visit the staff gives out special warm clothes to guests. Then the visitors get to the real kingdom of ice and snow and get warmed with hot drinks and lively dancing to the loud and fiery music. Admission to Icebar is paid: adult ticket costs 19,50 euros, children – 12,50 euros.

This price also includes 3 drinks – both alcoholic and non-alcoholic. Xtracold Icebar Amsterdam is open daily from noon until late at night.

One of the most unusual restaurants in Amsterdam is REM Eiland restaurant (Haparandadam 45, 1013 AK), located in a former pirate base. Many visitors return here again and again to spend their evening at 22 meters above water and admire the beauty of the quiet harbor.

Moreover, in REM Eiland you can not only enjoy the beautiful scenery, but also taste the delicious food and unique delicacies.

Try the Favier oysters with a price tag of 20 euros for half a dozen, the vegetable salad dressed with pesto sauce for 8.50 euros or the fresh fish in an unexpected combination with exotic fruits for 12 euros. The restaurant welcomes guests every day from 12 to 22 hours.

Also in Amsterdam you can find a small restaurant called Garlic Queen (Reguliersdwarsstraat 27, 1017 BJ). This cozy place is located in the center of Amsterdam and all dishes here are prepared with garlic: garlic soup, salads with garlic croutons, different kinds of meat delicacies with garlic sauce.

At Garlic Queen, you can even try garlic beer, garlic orange liqueur or taste the garlic cognac Eau Via de l’ail. You can order a three-course menu for 33.50 euros.

In addition to the places described you will also find other unique restaurants in Amsterdam, such as Het Kinderkookkafé (Vondelpark 6B, 1071 AA), located in Vondel Park, where only children represent the staff, Restaurant De Kas (Kamerlingh Onneslaan 3, 1097 DE), located in a former Dutch greenhouse, restaurant-theater ‘t Sluisje (Torensteeg 1, 1012 TH), which is located between Jordaan and the Red Light Quarter and entertains its guests with grand shows by cross-dressed men.

Also do not forget that the Netherlands is a country of canals. So an unforgettable dinner on a boat is a great alternative to a bite to eat in a café or restaurant. What could be more romantic than spending an evening navigating between small houses and sailing under the glowing bridges of Amsterdam?

Choose a location to suit your tastes and be sure to set off on new adventures, because nothing can brighten up an ordinary evening better than a visit to something new and so unusual.
